Hair Accessory Product Types

This page is a list of the main types of hair accessory products which our company stocks.

Stretchy hair accessories. This sector is made up of scrunchies, hair elastic elastics, terry ponios, bandeaux, bun nets, hair nets, donuts etc.

Hard hair accessories. Clamps, alice bands, barrettes, clips etc

Scrunchie. We stock a wide range of scrunchies. They sometimes are packed in singles but very often we pack 2,3 or even 6 pieces together to make one unit of sale. Many scrunchies such as a black velvet scrunchie or a satin scrunchie sell very consistently. Others such as the chiffon windmill scrunchie are a fashion fad and come and go. We usually carry over a hundred different scrunchies - chiffon scrunchies, cord scrunchies, beaded scrunchies, imitation hair scrunchies, floral scrunchies et al.

Alice bands. Our range of alice bands covers the whole spectrum from childrens plastic alice bands to quality velvet alice bands. Alice bands are sometimes packed in multipacks as the individual wholesale price is too cheap.

Clamp Plastic or metal clamps, also called bulldog clips, claws, shark clip, come in a variety of designs and sizes from miniclamps starting at 1cm wide up to 14cm clamps (not many bigger clamps than this around). In the more usual styles, 6cm, 9cm, and 14 cm clamps are the most popular. Mini clamps are most popular in flower or butterfly designs and are usually packed 6 pieces on a card. Black clamps and imitation tortoiseshell clamps are in the range on a permanent basis. We tend to change coloured clamp lines according to seasonal trends.

Hair elastic- often also called ponybands. We sell more hair elastics than any other product. Basic styles of elastic are usually packed between 6 elastics and 24 elastics on a card. Elastics are normally in thin (approx 2mm dia), thick (approx 5mm dia) or superthick (approx 8mm dia) grades of elastic. Our stock also includes a huge range of printed elastics, decorated elastic elastics, and beaded elastic elastics. There are also several special lines such as our endless elastics, snag free elastics, aka neoprene bands or rubber band elastic.

Ponio. Ponios are the terry towelling rings, also called pony-oh, ponyo, etc, etc. They come in two basic sizes, regular and small. Ponios are usually packed in 12s but we also supply tubes of ponio s containing 50. Like elastics there are hundreds of styles of ponio with decoration - often a plastic motif. Most popular are ponio s with dolphins, ponios with butterflies, ponio s with hearts, ponios with frogs, ponios with horses or any other design popular with young girls.

Donut Donuts are basically a thicker bigger version of a ponio. They do not usually have any decoration and we stock them in basic colour ranges. Black donuts are easily the most popular.

Grips, clips, hairpins. There are a variety of grips and clips available. Sleep pins are the metal spring clips, also known as click clacks, sleepies, or curl clips. Click clacks are available in plain silver or gilt plate but often come with epoxy or enamel covering and a host of motifs too wide to describe. Other types of hair grip such as kirby grips come in basics - e.g. brown kirby grips, black kirby grips, silver kirby grips or gold kirby grips and of course loads of kirby grips with decoration or motifs. Kirby grips are known in USA as bobby pins. Pointed beak clips are popular at the moment and we have many in our range. They basically look like a birds beak and are also known as flamingo clips or concorde clips. Beak clips come in many sizes up to about 13 cm which is a very popular size. Banana clips are usually made in plastic and unsurprisingly are shaped like a banana. Similar to banana clips are fish clips - look more fish like! We stock around 10 lines of this type. Other odd products are hair springs - these are coil hairsprings with decoration, some hairsprings have crystal ends, other hairsprings have imitation hair decoration and other hairsprings are twist-in coils with motifs or crystals etc.

Bandeaux. The bandeau is a line which is currently enjoying good sales. We stock crochet bandeaux, plain bandeaux (the black bandeau outsells all others), childrens bandeau, knitted bandeau etc. Bandeau are often called Kylie bands and sometimes called a bandanna.

Hair nets. One could be forgiven for thinking the hair net disappeared with Ena Sharples, however this is not the case. Hair nets still sell well and we stock hair nets in white, brown or black. The type of hair net we supply is the "invisible" very thin material one.

Bun nets Bun nets are popular at the moment with ballet dancers and horse riders. We stock bun nets in all the basics- black bun nets, brown bun nets, white bun nets, pink bun nets and a few more fancy bun nets such as frilly white bun nets.

Combs Our company stocks side combs, decorated haircombs, flexicombs, afro combs and a few others. Sidecombs come as follows: imitation tortoiseshell side combs, black plastic side combs, clear plastic side combs. Flexi combs come in basic black flexicombs,brown flexi combs and a few coloured flexi combs.

Multipack hair accessories. We have a selection carded lines which contain a selection of hair accessories. These include a Princess set, a basic hair accessory set, a ballerina hair accessory set and others.

Flower hair accessories. Flowers play a big part in the hair accessory business. We usually run flower hair elastics, flower brooches, flower barrettes, flower clamps etc etc
